Arendt, Carl Hermann Julius Eduard
As secretary and interpreter of the German legation in Beijing, Arendt accompanied Max von Brandt to the first German-Korean contract negotiations in Korea from 21st June to 2nd July 1882.


Bohlen und Halbach, Gustav Georg Friedrich Maria von
(Since 15th October 1906: Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach) Legation Secretary of the German legation in Beijing. In September 1901 in Korea for a few days in transit.


Brandt, Max August Scipio von
In June 1870, as Consul General of the North German Confederation for Japan, Brandt made his first trip to Korea to investigate the position of the Japanese in their trading post near Pusan and possibly to establish a trading relationship for Prussia.
From 21st June to 2nd July 1882 again in Korea for contract negotiations and conclusion (30th June 1882) of the first German-Korean trade contract.
On 15th April 1893, Brandt married in Seoul Miss Helen Maxima Heard, the daughter of the American Minister Resident and Consul General in Korea, Augustine Heard.


Coates, Georg
Consul General in Yokohama. During a vacation from 4th October to the end of November 1901, he traveled to Korea and Vladivostock.


Etzel, Franz Hermann Günther von
Military Attaché at the Imperial Embassy in Tokyo. During the Sino-Japanese War, Major von Etzel first came to Korea as a military observer on his way from Japan to the Liaodong Peninsula in May 1905, accompanied by Captain Max Hoffmann. In September 1906 a business trip took him to Korea again.


Franke, Alwin Wilhelm Otto
1888-1901 interpreter at the German legation in Beijing. Undertook a vacation trip to Korea in September 1899 for several weeks.


Goltz, Conrad Clemens Arnold Kurt Freiherr von der
First interpreter at the German legation in Beijing. Attends Max von Brandt's wedding to Helen Maxima Heard on 15th April 1893 in Seoul as a witness.


Grünau, Kurt Otto Werner Freiherr von
Military Attaché at the German legation in Beijing. Lieutenant Grünau made two extensive trips through Korea in May and August 1897.


Hatzfeld-Trachenburg, Alexander Maria Hermann Melchior Graf von
Attaché of the German legation in Tokyo. Stays in Seoul for a week in late September / early October 1903.


Ketteler, Clemens August Freiherr von
As an interpreter student in Canton, he accompanied Max von Brandt to the contract negotiations to Korea in June 1882.


Königsmarck, Hans Adolf Erwin Max Graf von
Military Attaché of the Imperial German Legation in Tokyo. Traveled to Chefoo during the Russo-Japanese War 1904/1905 via Pusan and Chemulp'o.


Meincke, Max
Military Attaché at the German Legation in Tokyo. Lieutenant Meincke visited mid-September 1896 the Korean capital for a few days.


Müller, Max
Vice Consul at the Consulate General in Shanghai. In October 1908 with his wife Marga on vacation in Korea, Manchuria and northern China.


Prittwitz und Gaffron, Wilhelm Johann Dietrich von
Secretary of the German Legation in Beijing. Accompanied by his wife Ella, he took a vacation trip to Korea from September to October 1899.


Sander, Hermann Gustav Theodor
Military Attaché at the German legation in Tokyo. Undertook two excursions to Korea in Sep 1906 and in March 1907 .


Trummler, Konrad
Naval Attaché at the German legation in Tokyo. During the Sino-Japanese War, Corvette Captain Trummler traveled to Korea on a Japanese expedition for a few days in June 1904.


Truppel, Oskar von
Imperial Governor of the German colony in Kiautschou, chief of the civil and military administration and supreme commander of the occupation troops. Visited Korea in November 1904.


Zappe, Carl Eduard
As German Consul General in Yokohama, he traveled to Korea in October 1883 to negotiate a German-Korean trade agreement. He returns to Japan three days after the contract was signed (26th November 1883).
